High fashion, culinary perfection and vodka martinis were a handful of things that made Ottawa’s first Aperitif at Le Cordon Bleu such a success.  The beautiful décor by Details Ottawa, floral arrangements by Joel Marc Frappier and the amazing food preparation headed by the chefs at Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa fashioned a feeling of the romantic and sophisticated Paris we all know and love.  Chapeaux De Madeleine topped off the look of Paris in Ottawa as models walked around with stunning au couture hats that made every guest wish they had a British wedding or Durby to attend in the next few days.

Once the Cointreau girls finished walking around serving their first round of Cointreaupolitans and the guests had taken in the stunning chocolate sculptures and Eiffel tower made out of vegetables we sat down to admire the fashionable gifts of Agathe de St. Amour.  The stunning fashion show included an opening performance by French rapper Najib and the night continued on with such a vibrant energy as the guests mingled and danced and begged for one last song from fabulous DJ
Nick.  Every final touch was thought about and executed perfectly from the spa food inspired buffet to the luxury hand massages provided by Holtz Spa.  Guests left with swag bags filled with French products and a unique magazine cover with their photo as a memento for the evening.  The night was a success.  I felt sophisticated, important and wishing I could have an Aperitif in Paris every night.   Check out all the media buzz on the event! I think it’s time Ottawa started its own show called, “Ottawa’s Got Talent.”  You always hear about the emerging talent from Toronto and Montreal but at the 10th annual Angie’s Showcase put on by Angie’s Model and Talent Inc.,  (AMTI) it was clear that Ottawa stands strong with our young actors and models.  The night began with a sumptuous dinner put on by the Hampton Inn & Conference Centre where the hard work of the boys, girls, men and women of AMTI was celebrated.  The cocktail hour allowed guests to mingle, network and file into the adjacent ballroom where a cool blue light filled the room defining this space as the runway and fashion outlet of the night.  I felt incredibly important sitting at the VIP section of runway as agents from all of the world were examining the models and actors trying to find the perfect role or face for their new campaign, film or fashion line.  The designers ranged from the big brand names of GAP Kids and Bluenotes to fabulous designers and boutiques located in Ottawa and Montreal.  The models were well prepared and held such confidence walking down that long stretch that I couldn’t believe some were teenyboppers.  I mean, aren’t you suppose to be awkward at that age!?  These talented young stars had such grace and determination to work hard that their confidence emitted the moment they walked on that runway.  Angie’s well taught grace was exhibited at she stood in front of the audience in her custom made violet cocktail gown and her 4 inch stilettos heels that she had no trouble walking in.  It was evident that lots of time and effort was put into making this show run as smoothly as it did.  It was so fun to see what Ottawa has to offer the entertainment industry and to see how many beautiful people live in this city!!!  A girl can’t complain after seeing some of those boys! So, a big STARFISH congrats goes out to Angie and her team on a job well done.  And even though Angie’s show was mainly about fashion it held its class and never ran ‘fashionably late.’  Photo of STARFISH associate Hannah with guest of honor Angie.hannahandangie.jpg

STARFISH is so excited to be working with Le Cordon Bleu Ottawa at Apéritif à la française tomorrow evening.  We are transforming their outdoor space into a gorgeous garden party – we can’t wait to see you there!

Wedding season is in full bloom and we were fortunate to recently work at Tudor Hall with a lovely staff who helped us bring our first wedding of the season to life.  This wedding exuded a luxurious feel as the room was transformed using warm hues of red and golds.  To be economical, the five-tier cake is faux other than for the first layer which could serve up to 175 snack size pieces.  Thank you Jessica for your amazing work – www.fabcakes.ca.  The wedding guests enjoyed breakdancing by Breadcrumbs www.breadcrumbscrew.com, music by DJ Nick and the bride + groom were whisked away in a white limo by Legacy Limousines www.legacylimousines.ca.
