STARFISH is proud to be supporting Ottawa Fashion Week. Our goal is to ensure OFW stays on the event calendar for Canada’s Capital for year’s to come. We have tremendous talent in this city and we are fashion. Ottawa Fashion Week is fast approaching and we want you to be part of the action! Taking place from March 24-27 at the Ottawa Arts Court, the event will feature pieces from the Fall/Winter 2010 collections of several Canadian and international designers.

Joining the roster of talented designers is internationally-renowned menswear designer Ralph Leroy who will be showcasing his Fall/Winter 2010-2011 collection on Friday March 26 at 9:00 p.m. Entitled Manu Militari, Leroy created this collection with inspiration from a modern military world while still incorporating sophistication and individuality into each piece.

“I’m excited and happy to attend Ottawa Fashion Week. I’m very proud to support Ottawa, and want people to realize that it’s not just a small city… it’s full of opportunity,” Leroy said. When asked what attendees can expect from his turn on the runway, he said, “My show is not just a fashion show… it’s much more!” He was recently nominated for the Young Entrepreneur of the Year award at the 3rd Annual Gala of Excellence held by the Jeune Chambre de Commerce Haïtienne de Montréal.

The launch party that was scheduled for Monday March 22 has been rescheduled for Wednesday March 24, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. and will be held in The Studio at the Ottawa Arts Court. Come kick off Ottawa Fashion Week with us and enjoy refreshments and live music prior to the first runway show.

Photography is an art and Melanie Rebane knows exactly how to capture it. We were thrilled to have her participate in our first STARFISH Wedding Workshop. She connected with brides-to-be planning their wedding and gave them amazing photography tips to capture their special day. She was also promoting her amazing boudoir photography services. For only $375 you can indulge in a delicious brunch, get pampered to Hollywood style glam hair and make-up and get a private 1-hour photo session. The ego boost alone after this experience is priceless! Fashion Cures a la Mode…and so it was…

Although exhausted, I also feel a sense of sadness that the last four days are behind me. Why? Because I got so used to being around amazing people, beautiful designs and not to mention fabulous style! I would be describing Fashion Cures a la Mode, of course. The four day fashion event began on Wednesday, when, much to everyone’s surprise Stacey Mackenzie (model extraordinaire and judge of Canada’s Next Top Model) made an appearance.

The four day event kicked off with some very cool Canadian designers, including Jefferson Sukhoo, Jason Meyers, Lizares, Las Valentinas and Thieves. The location was decked out, mostly thanks to Details Ottawa and Mikaza Home and all the amazing volunteers that came out to help. Taking place in an old church, one wouldn’t even know it coming in through the lounge area-it was absolutely brilliant! The second night kicked off with Richard Robinson Graduate Students, followed by Josie Perron (amazing!!!), Anastasia Lomonova, Valerie Dumaine, Dace and lastly (one of my personal favorites) Birds of North America. The theme for the night was “stylish taste” and true to form Sixth Sense and the Flour Shop provided all the fashion foodie goodies. Friday night, one of my favorites mostly because I got to have my hair and make-up done professionally (and what girl doesn’t LOVE that???) started with a wardrobe audit where everyone was able to buy designer clothes and accessories. The evening began with runway show by Kania Couture, followed by Rachel Sin and Undone Clothing-my favorite part of this evening was defnitely the LOFT afterparty, hosted by The Loft hair studio-a really cool urban space (you really need to visit!). Last but not least, Saturday, the final day of Fashion Cures began at 1pm with a hair and make-up soiree, where everyone and anyone (read me) got the chance to have their hair and make-up done courtesy of The Loft and Lancome. The night featured 6 different designers starting with Honor by Revolve followed by Myco Ana, Eugenia Designs, Aime Luxury, Aida Flores and a grand finale by Jessica Biffi (Project Runway Canada). STARFISH hosted a FABULOUS after-party at the Arc Hotel with Eventbots providing an amazing photo booth where we got cute instant photos (what a great momento) Carlo from Quality Entertainment provided the amazing beats that kept the dancefloor full and not to mention the delicious espresso martinis by the ARC Hotel mixologists. Fashion fever is back in Ottawa this week, with Fashion CURES, an exciting four-day event that brings designers, celebrities, industry professionals, sponsors, and you—our distinguished guests—together for a celebration of style in our nation’s capital.
